Southaven police share photos from National Police Week
Southaven Police Department on Friday shared photos taken by three of its officers who attended National Police Week in Washington, D.C., saying they stood alongside officers from across the country to pay tribute to colleagues killed in the line of duty.
In a Facebook post, the department identified the photographers as Sergeant Young, Officer Burnham and Officer Ryan and thanked them for representing Southaven. The post said the officers experienced “the overwhelming solemnness” of the observances.
National Police Week draws law enforcement personnel, families and supporters to the nation’s capital for ceremonies and memorials that honor officers who have died while serving. The gatherings are a way for departments to show solidarity, remember fallen colleagues and support surviving family members.
The Southaven Police Department serves the city of Southaven, Mississippi, and routinely shares news and community updates on its social channels. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
