Southaven police join church Back to School Bash
Southaven Police Department said on Facebook that Colonial Hills Church invited officers to participate in its Back to School Bash held this week in Southaven, Mississippi.
The department said dedicated volunteers at the event offered encouragement and support to families in a welcoming environment. Organizers provided school supplies, snacks, haircuts, vision screenings and other services for students in the community, the post said.
The Back to School Bash is an example of local congregations and law enforcement working together to help families prepare for the school year. Southaven Police Department serves the city of Southaven, a suburb of Memphis, and often takes part in community outreach events aimed at building relationships and reducing barriers to services.
Events that provide school supplies and basic health screenings can ease financial strain on families and improve school readiness for children. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
