Southaven police join Parade of Lights, Sirens and Love in Somerville

Members of the Southaven Police Department participated in the Parade of Lights, Sirens & Love in Somerville, Tennessee, the department said on Facebook.

The event honored 7-year-old Will, who is battling a rare and aggressive brain tumor, the post said. First responders from several local agencies, along with members of car clubs, motorcycle clubs and other community groups, came out to show support.

The Southaven Police Department serves the city of Southaven in DeSoto County, Mississippi, a suburb of Memphis, and often takes part in community events that bring agencies and residents together, officials said in the post.

Public shows of support can provide emotional comfort to families facing serious illness and underscore regional cooperation among law enforcement, emergency responders and civic groups. The department said it was “a privilege to show up for Will, his family and their community.”

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
