Southaven police attend Career Day at Northwest Mississippi campus
This morning Southaven Police Department officers and supervisors from training, investigations, judicial services and public relations, along with dispatchers, participated in Career Day at the Northwest Mississippi DeSoto campus, the department said in a Facebook post.
Department representatives spoke with students about potential career choices that could lead to fields in criminal justice or law enforcement, the post said. The event gave students a chance to learn about different roles within a police department, including behind-the-scenes functions such as dispatch and judicial services.
The Southaven Police Department serves the city of Southaven in DeSoto County, Mississippi. Career days at high schools and college campuses are commonly used by law enforcement agencies to introduce young people to public safety careers and to build relationships with the community and potential future recruits.
Organizers and police officials did not provide additional details in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
