Vicksburg police investigate shots fired into home

VICKSBURG, Miss. — Vicksburg police are investigating after gunfire struck a home Wednesday night, May 27, authorities said.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Elizabeth Circle on a shots-fired call, the Vicksburg Police Department said. Investigators determined that at least one projectile struck the residence, entered the home and traveled through two separate bedroom walls. No injuries were reported.

The Vicksburg Police Department, which provides law enforcement services for the city of about 22,000 residents, is leading the investigation. Anyone with information was asked to contact the department or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers programs typically allow callers to provide tips anonymously.

Stray gunfire that reaches occupied homes can pose serious risks to residents and first responders, and such incidents often prompt neighborhood safety reviews and investigations by local police. The Vicksburg Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
