Sheriff Jones touts K-9 unit as second to none

Pike County Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones is highlighting the role of a recently established K-9 Unit as part of his office’s effort to protect and serve residents, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Department said in a Facebook post.

The post said the K-9 teams are “highly trained” and help the sheriff’s office respond to threats, assist deputies and provide an additional layer of protection for citizens of Pike County.

Sheriff Jones, the post said, has emphasized preparation, innovation, training and teamwork and has supported investments in tools and resources the office says are necessary for public safety.

The public relations post thanked Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones for his leadership and said the K-9 Unit is “second to none.” The post included the hashtag #TeamWallyJones.

K-9 units are commonly used by law enforcement agencies to assist with searches, suspect apprehension and safety operations. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
