Sgt. Parker wins MASRO Top Gun competition
Sgt. Hunter Parker of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office won the Top Gun Award at the Mississippi Association of School Resource Officers annual conference this week in Biloxi, the sheriff’s office said.
The office said it sends its school resource officers each year to the MASRO conference for advanced training, professional development and networking. The conference includes the Top Gun competition, which tests marksmanship, firearms proficiency and overall shooting skills. Competing against school resource officers from agencies across Mississippi, Parker finished first and earned the Top Gun title.
“We are incredibly proud of Sgt. Hunter Parker for this outstanding accomplishment,” Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said. “His dedication to excellence, professionalism, and continuous training is reflected in this achievement. Sgt. Parker represented the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office with distinction, and this award is well deserved.”
The sheriff’s office also praised its School Resource Officer Division for its role in school safety and student support. “The men and women of our School Resource Officer Division are extraordinary ambassadors for both the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and Lowndes County,” Hawkins said. “Their dedication, professionalism, and genuine care for our schools make a lasting impact on the lives of our children every day. We are grateful for their service and proud of the work they do.”
Congratulations to Sgt. Hunter Parker on bringing the MASRO Top Gun Award to Lowndes County. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
