Scott County Sheriff’s Office apologizes for delay in Mother’s Day message

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office apologized on its Facebook page for a slight delay in posting Mother’s Day greetings and wished mothers and other maternal figures well, saying, “The world wouldn’t be a world without a MOTHER….,” the department said.

The office said it prayed that “each and every mother, grandmother, stepmother, & bonus mother enjoyed their day.” The brief post was signed by Sheriff Mike Lee, Chief Deputy Brad Ellis and Public Information Officer Joshua Thames.

Sheriff’s offices serve as county law enforcement agencies and often use social media to communicate with residents, share public safety information and foster community relations. Messages acknowledging holidays and community milestones are a common way local agencies try to maintain ties with the public they serve.

Details about the timing of the post or any related events were not provided in the message. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
