Scott County asks for prayers after Covington deputy shot
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office asked residents to join in prayer for a Covington County sheriff’s deputy who was shot in the line of duty, the office said in a Facebook post.
The statement said the office’s thoughts are with the deputy, the deputy’s family, fellow deputies and the entire Covington County law enforcement community during a difficult time. It was signed by Sheriff Mike Lee, Chief Deputy Brad Ellis and public information officer Joshua Thames.
The post said Scott County deputies, along with numerous other law enforcement agencies, have been actively assisting in efforts to apprehend the individual or individuals responsible and are using all known resources to do so.
The office asked people to keep the injured deputy, responding officers and all emergency personnel in their thoughts and prayers and added, “May God watch over and protect all those who serve.” The Scott County Sheriff’s Office did not provide further operational details. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
