Scott County Sheriff’s Office offers condolences to deputy after family loss
SCOTT COUNTY, Tenn. — The Scott County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that it extends its deepest condolences to Deputy Polk and his family as they cope with the loss of his brother.
The social media message said the entire sheriff’s office stands behind Deputy Polk, offering support, encouragement and prayers. The post included a photograph that identified those pictured as Deputy Polk Mike Lee, Sheriff Brad Ellis, Chief Deputy Joshua Thames and the office’s public information officer.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is the county’s primary law enforcement agency, responsible for patrol, criminal investigations and running the county jail. Departments frequently post messages of support for members and their families when they experience personal tragedies to show departmental solidarity and offer resources.
The office’s public expression of support underscores the close-knit nature of many law enforcement communities and the potential emotional impact when an officer faces a family death. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
