S.T.O.R.M. honors Lafayette County academy director Jenkins as founding member
Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office said Academy Director Chuck Jenkins was recognized Friday as a founding member of S.T.O.R.M. (Sobriety Trained Officers Representing Mississippi) during the organization’s 30th anniversary celebration covering 1996–2026.
The sheriff’s office said S.T.O.R.M. has spent three decades dedicated to DUI enforcement and occupant safety across Mississippi and that Jenkins has been part of that mission from the beginning.
The Lafayette County office also said retired Deputy Chief Kevin Stark of the Oxford, Mississippi, Police Department was recognized at the ceremony for his decades-long contributions to traffic safety and DUI enforcement.
S.T.O.R.M. President Dillion Cates honored the founding members at the event, the sheriff’s office said, and the agency thanked Cates for carrying the group’s mission forward into the next 30 years.
The recognition underscores local law enforcement efforts to reduce impaired driving and improve occupant safety on Mississippi roads. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
