Crime Stoppers director speaks to Harrison County cadets
Lori Massey, director of Crime Stoppers, spoke last week to cadets at the Harrison County Law Enforcement Training Academy, Class 2026-3, about the role patrol officers can play in educating the public, the organization said in a Facebook post.
Massey discussed how Crime Stoppers works and emphasized that patrol officers are often the first point of contact between law enforcement and citizens, according to the post. She encouraged the cadets to make members of the public aware that Crime Stoppers provides a way to share information anonymously.
Crime Stoppers is a community-based program that collects anonymous tips from the public to assist law enforcement investigations. Such programs typically aim to strengthen cooperation between residents and police by offering a confidential channel for reporting crimes.
The post said building strong relationships between officers and communities begins early in training and thanked the academy for the opportunity to introduce future officers to the Crime Stoppers mission. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
