Ridgeland police host blood drive for Cpl. Ryan Stacy

RIDGELAND — The Ridgeland Police Department is asking the community to donate blood during a drive next week to support Cpl. Ryan Stacy, an officer who was seriously injured in a crash.

The community blood drive is scheduled for May 6 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ridgeland Police Department, officials said. The department said donating blood is one of the most meaningful ways the public can support Stacy and others who need transfusions.

Stacy was seriously injured April 26 when his vehicle struck a fallen tree along the Natchez Trace Parkway during severe weather, police said. The department described Stacy as facing a long road to recovery and thanked the public for an outpouring of support for him and his family.

Officials said donations made ahead of the drive can be credited using the code ES24. The department said the drive is intended not only to support Stacy but also to help meet broader community medical needs. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
