Mississippi launches Rural Health Transformation Program office and website

Mississippi announced the establishment of the Mississippi Rural Health Transformation Program Office and the launch of an official website in a Facebook post, saying the newly created office will be housed within the Office of the Governor and will coordinate statewide efforts to modernize rural health care.

The post said the RHTP Office will serve as the central hub for implementing the state’s approved plan, aligning agencies, administering programs and maintaining a focus on accountability and results. The website is intended to provide the public with transparent access to initiatives, funding opportunities and progress updates.

The state’s plan includes a statewide rural health assessment and targeted initiatives aimed at care coordination, workforce development, creation of a statewide health information exchange, expansion of telehealth and infrastructure improvements to improve access to quality care in rural communities.

The post named Richard Grimes as project director of the Mississippi Rural Health Transformation Office. It described Grimes as a certified public accountant with experience guiding complex health care initiatives and a background in health care finance, policy and organizational leadership.

The post thanked President Donald J. Trump, Secretary Kennedy and CMS Administrator Dr. Oz for their roles in making the effort possible and directed readers to mississippirhtp.com for more information. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
