Biloxi Police hold memorial blood drive at visitors center

The Biloxi Police Department said in a Facebook post that the seventh annual Officer Robert McKeithen Memorial Blood Drive is under way at the Biloxi Visitors Center in Biloxi, Mississippi, and will run until 6 p.m.

The department said the event offers a chance for community members to donate blood and support patients in need. The drive is presented as a way for residents to come together to honor the memory of Officer Robert McKeithen while providing a vital public-health service.

Blood drives supply hospitals and clinics with donations used for surgeries, emergency care and treatment of chronic conditions. Local law enforcement and community groups often hold memorial drives to encourage civic participation and boost local blood supplies.

Information in the department’s Facebook post was limited. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
