Retired Assistant Fire Chief Casey Piazza dies after cancer battle
Assistant Fire Chief Casey Piazza, a retired leader of his local fire department, died after a long battle with cancer, the department said in a Facebook post. The department asked the community to keep Piazza’s family, friends and colleagues in their thoughts and prayers.
The Facebook post said Piazza fought his illness “with the same strength and determination he showed throughout his service to our department and community.” It included an appeal to remember him and a message to fellow firefighters: “Brother, your watch is over. We’ll take it from here. Rest easy.”
