Police identify suspect in Ocean Springs restaurant assault
Detectives with the Ocean Springs Police Department said Dakoda Oswalt is the individual shown in photographs and is wanted on an aggravated assault warrant in connection with an incident at a Government Street restaurant on Feb. 28, 2026, about 10:08 p.m.
Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers said it first released the photos seeking the public’s help identifying a man in the case. The organization said the original Facebook post was viewed more than 346,000 times after shares, and the message has been widely circulated.
Crime Stoppers urged Oswalt to turn himself in, saying it would be in his best interest to voluntarily address the matter. The group said anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers by downloading the P3 Tips app or by calling the organization’s tip line.
Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers noted that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty and described itself as a community-based program that solicits anonymous tips to assist law enforcement. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
