Phone lines restored after outage, agency says
At 3:24 p.m., an agency posting on Facebook said its phone lines are back operational after an earlier outage disrupted service.
The agency had posted an alert while its phone system was down, advising residents to call 911 for emergencies and to contact the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department at 662-234-6421 for non-emergency police assistance. The post apologized for the inconvenience and asked for patience while technicians worked to restore service.
Phone outages can impede the public’s ability to report crimes, request police assistance and obtain time-sensitive information. Local law enforcement agencies and sheriff’s departments typically provide non-emergency contact numbers to ensure people can reach authorities when municipal lines are unavailable.
The agency thanked the public for its patience in the update and said its phone lines are now operational. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
