Biloxi dedicates Fred Haise Landing, unveils restored Moonwalk mural

Biloxi is inviting the public to celebrate hometown astronaut Fred Haise at a dedication ceremony Saturday, June 27, 2026, organizers said.

The program begins with an opening ceremony and a meet-and-greet with Haise at 12 p.m. at the Biloxi Visitors Center. At 1 p.m., organizers will hold a ribbon cutting and unveil a restored Moonwalk mural followed by the formal dedication of Fred Haise Landing south of the Biloxi Lighthouse.

Haise, an Apollo 13 astronaut and native of Biloxi, flew on one of NASA’s most widely known missions. Organizers said the events will give residents an opportunity to meet one of the nation’s space pioneers and to celebrate a local figure whose career helped draw public attention to human spaceflight.

Community members and visitors are invited to attend the free public events. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
