Construction backs up traffic on South Lamar Boulevard

A Facebook post reminded motorists that construction is ongoing along South Lamar Boulevard near Belk Boulevard and that traffic is currently backed up in the area, the post said.

South Lamar Boulevard is a major travel corridor that serves commuters, local businesses and deliveries. Work on urban roadways can reduce lane capacity and slow traffic flow, causing delays for drivers and transit users.

The post urged drivers to slow down, use caution and expect delays. Motorists were advised to consider alternate routes and allow extra time for travel if possible.

Roadwork like this is commonly used to repair pavement, upgrade utilities or improve pedestrian access, and it can disrupt usual travel patterns while crews are active. Travelers should watch for changing traffic patterns and follow posted signs and directions from flaggers or law enforcement.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
