Oxford Unified faces Oxford Police in community basketball game

Oxford High School’s Unified Basketball team is taking on the Oxford Police Department in an annual community event, the team said in a Facebook post announcing a behind-the-scenes look for an edition of “The Season.”

The post described the matchup as one of the most fun community events the program holds each year. It said the feature offers viewers a look behind the scenes as the Oxford Unified team prepares for and plays the game against local officers.

Unified basketball programs pair students with and without intellectual disabilities to promote inclusion, teamwork and school-community engagement. Such events often aim to strengthen relationships between young people and law enforcement while showcasing athletes’ skills and dedication.
