OPD, Oxford Unified play friendly basketball game

OPD and the Oxford Unified team played a friendly basketball game that organizers said brought members of the community together, according to a Facebook post.

The post read, “Nothing better than a game bringing everyone together πŸ€πŸ’™ It’s always so much fun when we get to shoot some hoops with the Oxford Unified team! OPD x Oxford Unified.”

Oxford Unified is identified in the post as the team that took part in the pickup-style game. The name suggests it is a local school or community athletics program that fields youth or amateur teams.

Community basketball events such as this are commonly used by local organizations to build relationships, encourage physical activity and provide informal opportunities for residents and community partners to interact. When law enforcement and youth or school groups participate in recreational activities together, officials and community leaders say it can help strengthen trust and communication.

Details on the date, location and participants were not provided in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
