Oxford Police welcomes new dispatcher, officer

The Oxford Police Department said in a Facebook post that Rebecca Rusinovich is joining the agency as a dispatcher and Gordon Wilkerson is joining as an officer.

The department welcomed both new hires and said it looks forward to the roles they will play in serving the community.

Dispatchers handle emergency and nonemergency calls, coordinate response units and maintain communications between callers and officers. Police officers patrol neighborhoods, enforce laws and respond to incidents to protect public safety. Staffing additions can help maintain response times, community outreach and daily operations.

The Oxford Police Department is the local law enforcement agency responsible for public safety and community policing in its jurisdiction. Announcing new personnel publicly can help residents identify officers and dispatch staff who will serve their area and reinforce transparency about staffing.

Details about the new employees’ start dates, previous experience and assignments were not included in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
