Biloxi Police swear in officer, hire dispatcher at public safety center

BILOXI, Mississippi — The Biloxi Police Department said it welcomed two new members May 20, when Charles Smith took the oath as a police officer and Sadie Hooks joined the department as a dispatcher in a swearing-in ceremony at the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center.

The department announced the additions in a Facebook post and said it was proud to have them serving the community. The Biloxi Police Department provides law enforcement and public safety services for Biloxi, a Gulf Coast city in Harrison County.

Police officers enforce laws, respond to calls and conduct community policing, while dispatchers handle emergency communications and coordinate responses with officers and other first responders. New hires help maintain staffing levels and support public safety operations across the city.
