Oxford police host Attorney General for Operation Stronghold kickoff
Oxford Police Department said in a Facebook post that it hosted Attorney General Lynn Fitch and federal, state and local law enforcement partners for the kickoff of Operation Stronghold.
The department said the partnership focuses on training retailers across Mississippi to recognize and report credit card skimmers and help prevent criminals from stealing sensitive financial information. Credit card skimmers are devices placed on payment terminals that capture card data and can lead to fraudulent charges and identity theft.
Attorney General Lynn Fitch leads Mississippi’s top legal office and has emphasized consumer protection as part of her duties. The Oxford Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency for Oxford, Mississippi. The department said it is working with the Attorney General’s Office and other agencies to support businesses and protect residents.
The department said the effort aims to raise awareness among merchants and reduce financial crime in Oxford and other Mississippi communities. The Facebook post included the hashtag #StopTheSkim. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
