Post praises Louisiana attorney general, calls eligibility ruling ‘pure comedy’
A Facebook post praised Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill as “one of my favorite people” while calling the outcome of a recent eligibility dispute “pure comedy,” the post said. The post criticized what it described as a lack of a “fair forum” or “neutral decision maker” in Baton Rouge.
The post referenced venues in Baton Rouge popular with college athletes, saying anyone who has played at Tiger Stadium, the Pete Maravich Assembly Center or Alex Box would understand the complaint about neutrality, the post said.
According to the post, the athletes sought a fair forum and a neutral decision-maker and received both, along with relief. The post said the NCAA sent only lawyers to the hearing and that the Southeastern Conference commissioner told the court he had not read the relevant rules until that day.
