Oxford Police Department highlights units during Police Week
In a Facebook post during Police Week, the Oxford Police Department said it was spotlighting the many units that contribute to public safety in Oxford, Mississippi.
The post named officers who patrol the Square with the Downtown Unit, riders in the Mounted Patrol, investigators in the Criminal Investigations Division and handlers and dogs in the K-9 Unit. It said the Patrol Division answers calls around the clock, dispatch ensures no call goes unheard and the DUI Unit works to keep roads safe.
The department also listed SWAT, its Drone Unit and Fusion intelligence, along with School Resource Officers, Victim Services, P.A.C.E., the Honor Guard and data analysts. The post said the Training Division prepares officers, the Public Information Office keeps the community connected and the Command Staff leads with vision and accountability.
The post concluded with the departments mission: to “serve with wisdom and compassion, and to create a safe and connected community,” and the line “One mission. Serving Oxford with pride.” National Police Week is observed to honor law enforcement officers and their service to communities.
