Griggs sentenced to 15 years for meth trafficking

TUPELO, Miss. — Dale Wayne Griggs pleaded guilty May 14, 2026, to trafficking methamphetamine and was sentenced to a 40-year term by Circuit Court Judge Michael P. Mills Jr., with 25 years suspended, leaving 15 years to serve, the District Attorney’s Office said.

Judge Mills ordered that Griggs serve the 15-year portion day-for-day in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections without the possibility of parole or early release, the release said. Following his incarceration, Griggs will be subject to five years of post-release supervision.

The North Mississippi Narcotics Unit investigated the case, and the District Attorney’s Office commended NMNU agents for their work, the office said in a press release signed by Jason D. Herring, district attorney for the First Circuit Court District.

Regional narcotics task forces such as NMNU focus on disrupting drug distribution networks, and prosecutions for methamphetamine trafficking often carry lengthy sentences. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
