Ocean Springs police thank school crossing guards
Ocean Springs Police Department thanked the crossing guards of the Ocean Springs School District for the 2025-2026 school year in a post on its Facebook page, saying the guards stand in the heat, rain or cold to keep children safe during morning and afternoon crossings.
The department said the guards’ smiles, vigilance and commitment make a huge difference in the community and help students start and end their school days “with a sense of security and kindness.” The post included the lines “We see you. We appreciate you.”
Crossing guards typically guide children across streets near schools during arrival and dismissal times and play a role in pedestrian safety for families. Local police departments and school districts often rely on them to reduce risks for students walking to and from school.
The Ocean Springs Police Department thanked the guards for helping make schools safer for families and called their work “truly appreciated.” The message appeared on the department’s official Facebook page.
