Ocean Springs Police hold wreath ceremony for Sgt. ‘Red’ Beaugez
The Ocean Springs Police Department will hold a wreath-laying ceremony at 2 p.m. today at Bellande Cemetery in Ocean Springs to honor the memory and sacrifice of Sgt. “Red” Beaugez, the department said in a Facebook post.
Sgt. Beaugez gave his life in the line of duty on May 27, 1954, the department said, and officials invited the community to join them in remembering his service and dedication. The post described Beaugez as a true hero and included hashtags remembering fallen officers.
Ocean Springs is a city on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and the police department regularly marks the service of officers who died in the line of duty as part of broader community observances. Wreath-laying ceremonies are a common way law enforcement agencies and communities acknowledge sacrifice and provide a focal point for public mourning and gratitude.
The department encouraged residents to attend and pay tribute. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
