Ocean Springs officer Bates graduates from motor school

Officer Bates graduated from Motor School this morning, the Ocean Springs Police Department said in a Facebook post.

The department said Motor School is a demanding course that requires discipline, precision, endurance and advanced motorcycle-handling skills. It praised Bates for successfully completing the training, saying the accomplishment reflects his dedication to professional development and his commitment to serving the citizens of Ocean Springs.

Ocean Springs Police Department, which serves the city of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, trains motor officers to perform traffic enforcement, escorts and support at special events. Departments say such training can improve officer safety and public protection on roadways by enhancing riding technique and situational awareness.

The department asked the public to join in congratulating Bates as he begins this new chapter of service with OSPD. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
