Ocean Springs swears in new police officer

The Ocean Springs Police Department said on its Facebook page that it welcomed and swore in its newest officer, Officer Fredericksen.

The department, which serves the coastal city of Ocean Springs in Mississippi, posted that the community should join in congratulating the officer as she begins her career. The post described the department as excited to have her join and noted expectations of dedication and professionalism.

Swearing-in ceremonies formally mark the beginning of an officer’s duties and typically follow completion of required training and agency onboarding. Municipal police departments like Ocean Springs’ carry out patrol, respond to emergencies and engage in community policing to maintain public safety.

Details about Officer Fredericksen’s background, assignment or training were not released in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
