Nonemergency call outage resolved

An agency that had reported problems with incoming nonemergency phone lines said in a Facebook post that the issue has been resolved.

The agency originally reported calls not connecting and calls dropping and said those problems were reported to its service provider, which was working to restore normal service. The agency had directed callers who could not reach its lines to contact the Desoto County Sheriff’s Department at 662-469-8500.

Nonemergency telephone lines are typically used for routine public inquiries and nonurgent reports. Disruptions can hinder residents’ ability to obtain information or request routine services, underscoring the importance of backup contact methods during outages.

The Desoto County Sheriff’s Department is the local law enforcement agency that can handle public-safety inquiries and nonemergency assistance at the number provided. Residents should continue to use emergency lines, such as 911, for immediate threats to life or property.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
