Moonlight, Music and Meteors combines symphony, stargazing at LeFleur’s Bluff
JACKSON — “Moonlight, Music and Meteors” will pair live orchestral music with public stargazing at The Den at LeFleur’s Bluff State Park on April 17, 2026, organizers said. The event runs from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Organizers said the evening will feature the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra alongside area astronomers and physicists, NASA Solar System Ambassadors and doctoral students from the University of Mississippi, who will bring telescopes for public viewing. Dr. Jean Francois-Gout will present astrophotography highlighting his images of the night sky, organizers said.
Kayla Thompson, an Emmy-nominated journalist, morning anchor and author, will serve as the event narrator, organizers said. Advance tickets cost $20 online through noon on April 16; tickets will be $25 at the door. Concessions will be available, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
The event is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. LeFleur’s Bluff State Park is a public park in Jackson. NASA Solar System Ambassadors is a volunteer outreach program that promotes public understanding of NASA missions. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
