Mississippi Museum of Natural Science offers free admission to military families

JACKSON — The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced Friday that the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is participating in the 2026 Blue Star Museums program, offering free admission to active-duty military personnel and up to five family members through Sept. 7.

Officials said military families may visit the museum free of charge during the summer and will have access to exhibits, wildlife displays, scenic trails and outdoor experiences at the museum and nearby LeFleur’s Bluff State Park.

“We are honored to welcome military families to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science through the Blue Star Museums program,” said Angel Rohnke. “This initiative is a meaningful way to thank those who serve our country while providing opportunities for families to connect with Mississippi’s natural resources, conservation and outdoor recreation.”

Blue Star Museums is a national partnership involving the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and participating museums. Eligible participants include active-duty members of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard, as well as members of the reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and NOAA Commissioned Corps. Visitors must present a qualifying military identification card, including a Common Access Card, DD Form 1173 dependent ID card, DD Form 1173-1 ID card or a Next Generation Uniformed Services ID card. More information about the program and participating museums is available at Blue Star Museums.
