MEMA urges residents to document, report flood damage
Mississippi Emergency Management Agency urged residents who sustained damage from recent flooding to file insurance claims, photograph damage and report losses to their county or to MEMA through an online self-report tool, the agency said in a Facebook post.
MEMA directed residents to visit https://www.msema.org/report-damage, select their county of residence and complete the online form. The agency said the submission is not an application for assistance.
The self-reporting tool is designed to help local and state officials better understand the scope of storm impacts and prioritize response and recovery work, officials said. Reporting damage can also create a record residents may need when communicating with insurers or local governments.
MEMA is the state agency responsible for coordinating disaster preparedness, response and recovery efforts in Mississippi, working with county emergency managers and federal partners when needed. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
