MEMA urges residents to report storm damage via self-report tool

PEARL — The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is urging residents to report damage from overnight severe weather and to document any losses, the agency said.

MEMA said residents whose homes were damaged should file an insurance claim, take photos of the damage and report the damage to their county or to MEMA through the agency’s online self-report tool. Users must select their county of residence and complete the form, MEMA said.

MEMA noted that the self-report tool is not an application for assistance. The agency said the information collected is intended to help local officials and state emergency managers assess impacts and plan response and recovery efforts.

MEMA, which coordinates emergency planning, response and recovery across Mississippi, frequently works with county officials and other partners to monitor storm impacts. Officials typically encourage residents to keep records, photos and receipts to support insurance claims and any future assistance requests.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
