Authorities seek help locating missing Covington County man

Authorities in Collins, Mississippi, continue to search for Elester Womack, who disappeared on or around June 3, 2022, in Covington County, the Covington County Sheriff’s Department said. Womack, also known to family and friends as “Farrell,” has been missing nearly four years and few details about his disappearance have been released publicly.

At the time he vanished, Womack was 61 years old. He is described as a Black male with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 178 pounds.

Authorities and family members are asking the public for information to generate new leads. Metro Crime Stoppers has joined the effort, offering anonymous tip options and possible cash rewards for information that leads to progress in the investigation.

FBI data show hundreds of thousands of people are reported missing in the United States each year, including tens of thousands of adults, and advocates say cases involving older adults can present unique challenges, from medical issues or confusion to foul play or unexplained circumstances.

Anyone with information about Womack’s disappearance is urged to contact the Covington County Sheriff’s Department at 601-765-8281 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 601-582-STOP. Tips may also be submitted online through P3Tips.com. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
