Man found fatally stabbed in Lee County; deputies investigate
A man died Saturday evening after deputies found him with apparent stab wounds in the Pratts/Friendship community of Lee County, investigators said.
Deputies responded around 6:03 p.m. May 16 to County Road 1303 after receiving reports of an altercation involving an injured man, investigators said. When deputies arrived, they found Randy Hallmark unresponsive on the side of the road. Emergency medical personnel were already at the scene providing aid, but Hallmark later died from his injuries, investigators said.
During the preliminary investigation, deputies went to a nearby residence where authorities believe the altercation began. Investigators said one person of interest and one witness were taken into custody for investigative purposes. Authorities did not provide additional details about the identities of those individuals or a possible motive.
The case remains under active investigation, and investigators said evidence and information will be presented to the district attorney’s office and then to the next available grand jury for review. Grand jury consideration is a common next step in felony investigations. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
