Lee County Sheriff welcomes new deputy Dylan Jones

Sheriff Jim H. Johnson wrote on the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page that Deputy Dylan Jones has joined the sheriff’s office family and “was sworn in today.” The post says Jones comes to the office from the DeSoto County Correctional Facility and, after completing the Law Enforcement Academy, will be assigned to the Patrol Division.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, based in northern Mississippi, is responsible for countywide law enforcement, patrol duties, investigations and jail operations. Adding a trained deputy helps maintain patrol coverage and respond to calls for service across the county.

The DeSoto County Correctional Facility is a regional corrections institution where staff perform custody and supervision functions; many officers and deputies enter patrol roles after transferring from corrections or completing academy training. The Law Enforcement Academy provides the basic training required by most agencies before officers take patrol assignments.

The sheriff’s office said it is excited to have Deputy Jones join the team and looks forward to the impact he will make serving Lee County residents. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
