Hinds County Sheriff’s Office welcomes two new deputies

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office said on its Facebook page that it has welcomed Deputy Tarik Scott and Deputy Catazhwa Jenkins to its ranks after the pair graduated from the Jackson Police Department’s 71st Recruit Class and 25th Basic Law Enforcement Class.

The office said both deputies completed weeks of rigorous training and met all state qualifications to begin serving Hinds County. The post said Deputy Scott earned a rare distinction by sweeping three award categories — physical fitness, firearms and academics — for his class.

The sheriff’s office expressed appreciation to the Jackson Police Department for its continued partnership in training recruits alongside officers from other agencies, saying collaborative training strengthens regional law enforcement.

The post congratulated all graduates and their families and welcomed the new deputies to the profession. The office credited Jay Deville Johnson for the accompanying photograph. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
