Johnson loves work as Vicksburg crossing guard
Brenda Johnson has spent 12 years helping keep Vicksburg students safe, the Vicksburg Police Department said in a Facebook post that highlighted a recent feature about her in The Vicksburg Post.
The post said Johnson greets children each day with a smile and what it called a servant’s heart. The Facebook message congratulated her and noted that she is a valued member of the Vicksburg Police Department family.
The Vicksburg Post reported that Johnson’s interest in the job began as a childhood fascination at a school carnival and grew into what the newspaper described as one of the city’s most recognizable crossing guard roles.
Crossing guards play a key role in local school safety by helping children cross busy streets and by being a visible presence that can reduce traffic risks near schools. The Vicksburg Police Department encouraged readers to see the newspaper feature for more on Johnson’s story. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
