Vicksburg police honor crossing guards with breakfast

Vicksburg Police Department recently recognized its crossing guards by treating them to breakfast, saying the event honored their commitment to student safety. The department said in a Facebook post that members of its administration attended to thank the crossing guards and hear about their experiences.

The post noted that crossing guards help ensure children arrive at school safely every school day, “rain or shine,” and called their dependability and care vital to students and families. The department said the breakfast provided an opportunity to express appreciation and build relationships within the public safety team.

Crossing guards typically direct traffic and assist students at intersections and school entrances, a role public safety officials consider an important component of keeping communities safe. The Vicksburg Police Department said public safety is a team effort and that crossing guards are an important part of that team.
