Jackson police thank minister for event supporting caregiving grandparents

Jackson Police Department thanked Minister Nancy Gaynor for organizing an annual event that supports grandparents who are the primary caregivers for their grandchildren, the department said in a Facebook post. The department said the event, held each year, brings people together to recognize grandparents and to serve them a meal.

The post identified the initiative as Grandparents Really Do Matter and praised Gaynor’s tireless dedication. It said the program builds a community of “love, strength, and hope” for grandparents who step up to raise the next generation.

Many communities host similar events to honor relatives who provide day-to-day care when parents are unable to do so. Local recognition and meals can offer practical relief and social support for caregivers and signal community acknowledgement of their role.

Details about the most recent event, including location and attendance, were not provided in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
