Jackson police investigate homicide on Woody Drive

The Jackson Police Department said it is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 900 block of Woody Drive. Authorities did not immediately release additional details about the incident, including the number of victims or a possible motive, the department said.

The Jackson Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the city and handles investigations of violent crime, traffic enforcement and community policing. Homicide investigations typically involve detectives, crime-scene technicians and forensic analysis as officers work to establish what occurred and identify any suspects.

Local homicides often draw heightened attention because of their impact on neighborhoods and public safety. Investigations can take days or weeks as authorities collect evidence, interview witnesses and review surveillance or other records. Police routinely ask anyone with information to contact investigators to assist in solving such cases.

The department has not released further information. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
