Jackson police investigate homicide in 2000 block of Gaites Lane

Jackson police are investigating a homicide that occurred today in the 2000 block of Gaites Lane in south Jackson, the Jackson Police Department said.

Captain Abraham Thompson of Precinct 1 and Captain Obbie Wells of the robbery-homicide unit provided additional details about the incident, the department said. Officials did not release further information about victims or suspects in the initial notice.

The Jackson Police Department is the city’s primary law enforcement agency and routinely assigns precinct officers and specialized units to serious crimes, including homicides. Homicide investigations typically involve crime-scene processing, witness interviews and coordination between patrol and detective units as police work to establish a timeline and identify possible suspects.

The investigation may affect local traffic and neighborhood activity while officers work in the area. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
