Jackson Police honor officers during National Police Week

On behalf of the Jackson Police Department, Chief RaShall Brackney, Ph.D., said the department pauses this week to honor men and women who wear the badge with courage and an unwavering commitment to the communities they serve.

Brackney said the department remembers the families of fallen officers and that their loved ones are not forgotten. “Their sacrifice lives on in every call answered and every act of service performed by the officers who carry their memory forward,” she said.

The chief thanked JPD officers and law enforcement professionals nationwide for long hours, difficult decisions and quiet sacrifices. “Your service matters. Your wellness matters. You matter,” Brackney said.

As the department observes National Police Week, Brackney urged a renewed focus on building trust, strengthening accountability and investing in officers. She asked Jackson residents to join in reflection, to thank an officer, honor a family and say a name.

National Police Week is a time when communities recognize law enforcement who have died in the line of duty and reflect on public safety. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
