Jackson holds Michael D. Johnson Foundation 5K; police chief serves as grand marshal
The Michael D. Johnson Foundation 5K Run/Walk in downtown Jackson this morning drew community members and local officials, the Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The department said Chief RaShall Brackney was honored to serve as the grand marshal for the event. The post described the run as “amazing” and thanked organizers and participants for their involvement.
The Jackson Police Department said the JPD Traffic Unit “was on point as always” managing the route, and that Councilwoman Lashia Brown-Thomas and Councilman Kevin Parkinson took part in the walk. The post credited Photo Master Jay Johnson with capturing the event and thanked him for sharing the pictures.
5K run/walks are common community events that often promote health, raise awareness and support local causes, and they frequently involve coordination between organizers and municipal agencies for public safety and traffic control. The Jackson Police Department is the city’s primary law enforcement agency and often posts updates about community engagement on its official social media channels. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
