Jackson police support Martin Shields Jr. Foundation

Jackson Police Department said on its Facebook page Saturday that it joined Deputy Martin Shields Jr.’s family, Sheriff Tyree Jones and community members to support the Martin Shields Jr. Foundation, which the post described as “Empowering Futures Through Education.”

The department did not provide further details about the event in the post. Jackson Police Department is the local law enforcement agency that serves the city and often participates in community events and outreach initiatives designed to build relationships and support local causes.

Foundations that carry educational missions commonly focus on scholarship programs, mentoring and other supports intended to expand opportunities for young people, officials and community leaders say. Police participation in such events can underscore partnerships between public safety agencies and residents aimed at strengthening trust and community well-being.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
