IRS extends Mississippi tax deadlines to June 8, 2026
The IRS announced tax relief for Mississippi taxpayers affected by Winter Storm Fern, postponing a range of filing and payment deadlines to June 8, 2026.
The extension covers individual income tax returns, corporate income and franchise tax returns, pass-through entity tax returns and quarterly estimated payments that originally were due during the affected period, the agency said. Mississippi will follow the federal extensions granted to victims of the storm that began Jan. 23, 2026.
Mississippi tax officials said taxpayers who live or do business in the state and receive a penalty notice should call the state office at (601) 923-7700 to seek abatement. Officials also said they will work with taxpayers who live elsewhere but whose books, records or tax professionals are located in the disaster areas.
The officials cautioned that the extension does not automatically apply to other tax types or payments on prior liabilities, and relief for those situations may be granted on a case-by-case basis. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
